How social media affect our everyday lives?

At the time of the isolation ,social distancing during the time of corona virus social media plays a invaluable role in your life for keeping you in touch with friends, relatives and with your loved one.

In today’s world, we all are rely on the social media platform like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and twitter etc. to find and connect with each other. In everyone’s life it has it’s own importance but we have to remember that social media connection can never be replace our real life connection. Some studies shows that social media trap us totally like we do not have time to sit with our loved one or family but we have time to spend time on social media .

Scrolling and checking through social media become a very popular activity from last decade. Although the majority of peoples’ use of social media is non-problematic, there are small percentage of the people who are addicted to social networking sites. According to the a research a person check its phone more than 150 times in a single day.

1.Depression and Anxiety

Ironically for a technology that’s designed to bring people closer together, spending too much time engaging with social media can actually make you feel more lonely and isolated — and exacerbate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. If you’re spending an excessive amount of time on social media and feelings of sadness, dissatisfaction, frustration are impacting your life, it may be time to re-examine your online habits and find a healthier balance.

2.Fear of Missing Out

Social Media Sites are also creating the fear of missing out like it seem to exacerbate feelings that other people having more fun and living better life than you are. The idea that you are missing out on certain things can impact on your self-esteem, trigger anxiety and provoke to use social media . This thing compel you to check your phone every few minutes to check for updates or response to each and every alert at any risk while your are driving, missing out on sleep at night and giving more important to social media interaction over the real world relationships.

Studies show that social media is harmful to our mental health too. Why? This happens because people are constantly concentrating and overthinking filtering, photoshopping, and projecting their lives in social media to look better than others. Social media makes people compare and despair. It causes a psychological addiction, making users dependable on their accounts and web pages.

3. Addiction

We all hear about the addiction of smoking and alcohol but social media is the worst addiction in the coming youth. People are spending most of its time on scrolling the networking sites. During taking the tea or coffee we usually like to use our phone instead of reading newspaper. Mostly people when get up in the morning they firstly pick up their phone to check for any updates. Do think it is a good habit? Social media also stealing our time if we are going to spend 5 minute on a site after 1 hour we realise that our time is wasted.

Addiction-levels of social media use can also negatively impact existing relationships, leading many teens to struggle to maintain a commitment to their partner or friends due to constant distractions and lack of attention.

4.Stress & Self-Esteem

It is also the becoming the reason of the stress and self-esteem like- we have uploaded a image on the social media sites some people like it and some dislike then they are very obsessed about that why people dislike it they checked it again and again . They are comparing their self with others. This is becoming the cause of stress in youngsters. Social media user are judging their self acc. to the likes and dislikes of their post. Due to this thing they are losing their self esteem. They are losing their confident. They are becoming that what other wants to see them not that which they are actually. Sit freely without phone think like and dislikes really matter in your life its actually define you, your beauty and your self-esteem.
